Zzebra - If und Osibisa - eine Supergroup?

1973 krempelte Dick Morrisey seine If vollsändig um. Zwei seiner Mitspieler, Terry Jones und Dave Quincey, blieben weiter zusammen und taten sich mit Gus Yeadon (alias Gus Eadon) von Love Affair zusammen. Die restlichen Musiker sammelten ihre Erfahrung bei Juicy Lucy und /oder Osibisa.
Die erste Single war eine Interpretation von Beethovens "Opus 92" und wurde zum Soundtrack von "Zardoz" ein Film mit Sean Connery. Die B-Seite produzierte Roger Chapman.
1974 wurde die erste LP aufgenommen. Noch während der Aufnahmen verließ Yeadon die neu gegründete Zzebra. Sein Nachfolger wurde Tommy Eyre. Eyre ist auf einigen Tracks von "Zzebra" zu hören wird aber nicht unter den Mitspielern erwähnt.
Ein zweites Album "Panic" wurde begonnen, da verließ Terry Smith Zzebra. Steve Byrd kam und mit ihm ein Freund von Tommy Eyre, Alan Marshall. Auf "Put A Light On Me" gesellte sich Jeff Beck zu Zzebra.  Zzebra produzierte 1975 noch ein drittes Album "Take It Or Leave It", dass aber erst 2001 veröffentlicht wurde. Das interessante an Zzebra war die Vergangenheit und die Zukunft der Mitspieler.

Byrd machte sich ebenfalls einen Namen als Songschreiber.
