Die Geschichte von Paul Rodgers beginnt mit Free und der Bad Company. Du kannst sie hier im Lexikon nachlesen.

Die Ideen gingen Bad Co. langsam aus, als sich Paul Rodgers und Jimmy Page bei den Aufnahmen zu Willie & The Poor Boys von Bill Wyman kennen lernten. Sie gründeten eine gemeinsame Firma, „The Firm“, und spielten zwei Alben ein.
Wie bereits bei den Free mit Kossoff, so hatte Paul auch mit Page seine Probleme. Die schönsten Gitarren Soli, z.B. bei Radioactive, spielte er und nicht Page.
Nachfolger der Firma wurde folgerichtig "The Law". Paul Rodgers und der Small Faces und Who Schlagzeuger Kenny Jones nahmen mit "The Law" ein solides Rock-Album auf. Leider schmähten es, zu unrecht, die Kritiker und die Fans.
Nach "Law" ging Rodgers Solo. Er zeigte sich einmal mehr als Multiinstrumentalist und bediente auf "Cut Loose" alle Instrumente eigenhändig. Die Alben „Cut Loose“ und „Muddy Water Blues“ waren eine logische Fortsetzung von Free und Bad Co..
Bei dem letzteren Album, eine Hommage an Muddy Waters, wurde er von Buddy Guy, Gary Moore, Brian May, Jeff Beck und Steve Miller begleitet. Hörenswert auch das Live Album des Loreley Konzertes.
